Garden Comittee

Bellevue Santa Fe Charter School is blessed to have a vibrant and enchanting school garden. Students eagerly explore the garden with Mr. C weekly for 40 minutes of hands-on learning. From preparing the soil to planting seeds, watering, weeding, and ultimately harvesting and tasting the produce, students actively engage in every stage of food cultivation.

The garden committee plays a pivotal role in organizing monthly work parties, where parents and students help with garden chores, including weeding, seeding, and planting. Parent volunteers also help improve the garden's infrastructure, including the recent installation of a new shed and an outdoor sink.

To ensure the garden's sustainability and continuous improvement, the committee actively seeks and applies for multiple grants each year while organizing fundraisers. Through their dedication, the garden committee ensures that the school garden remains a thriving and educational space for all our students.

This year, we have started the Bellevue Garden Club, a group of students who meet Thursdays at lunch to work on special projects in the garden. So far, students have spent their lunchtimes sprucing up the fairy garden and painting tables. They've also harvested some of the garden's many, many tomatoes. These extra tomatoes are being sold at Avila Valley Barn, and all proceeds are going towards helping fund future events in the garden. Keep an eye out for them the next time you're at the Barn!

We hope to see you in the garden this year! There are so many ways to help, from garden work parties to the Bellevue Garden Club, to organizing special events throughout the year.
